About Posner and Ford

I began collecting the information that's in this tree sometime in 2004 in an effort to prove or disprove speculation that my maternal grandfather, William Holder Stone Ford, is the biological son of the automobile manufacturer Henry Ford. The rumor was fueled by a ring that was owned by my deceased uncle, Roy Ford, son of William H.S. Ford. I haven't seen the ring but I am told that it is engraved inside with the words "To William Ford from Henry Ford". At the time nobody knew for sure where William was born, other than it was England. With the help of a professional genealogist, I was able to obtain his birth certificate (a copy is included in this tree) that shows he was born in Newhaven, England, in 1878 to Louisa Holder and William Stone. Furthermore, I was unable to find any proof of Henry Ford being in England at the time of William's conception. It is my belief that the ring belongs to either Henry Ford's grandson William Clay Ford or great-grandson William Clay Ford, Jr.
So, where did the surname Ford come from? William Stone and Louisa Holder never married, but shortly after William was born Louisa married David Ford, who adopted William. From that date forward William chose to retain his mother's maiden name, his biological father's last name, and his adopted father's last name. Thus... William Holder Stone Ford. The heritage of the Baumanns is not as complex, but as of this writing, it has been difficult to find any information about the ancestors prior to the early 1800s. I had some difficulty following the Posner heritage until my 2nd cousin, 1x removed, Anthony Fisher informed me that my paternal great grandfather's birth name was Francis Paul Poznanski. Francis changed his last name to Posner upon his arrival to the USA and shortly after that was known as Frank Paul Posner. I will be forever grateful to Anthony Fisher for providing a wealth of information from the Posner's past and for making his Posner photograph collection available to me; some of which are included in this tree.
I would also be remiss if I didn't thank our new UK friends, Andy, and Ann Saunders. Andy got word that Yvonne and I were planning to visit England in September of 2006 and that I was very interested in the heritage of my ancestors. Andy and Ann live in the same area where my ancestors lived. Andy asked me to contact him as soon as we arrive because he had some information about my ancestors. Boy, did he!
Andy handed me a stack of printouts about four inches thick; pictures, a genealogy report going back to the 1700s, logs of ships that my 3rd great grandfather commanded, pictures of baptism fonts (vessels), schools, churches, homes, all things and places related to my ancestors. To top it off, Andy and Ann volunteered to be our tour guides for the rest of our visit in that area. We couldn't have had better and more informed guides. I am extremely grateful to Andy and Ann Saunders. I will remember them and be thanking them for the rest of my life.
A while back I was contacted by Marlene Rodgers UE, who saw this Family Tree and noticed that we have a common relative. Since then we’ve been sharing information for each of our Trees. So, now I have a new person to recognize. Marlene Rodgers provided almost the entire lineage to Jacob and Anna Weiser. Until now, I’ve been unable to go back any further on my grandmother Grace Ford Baumann's line than Thomas Wager UEL, born 1762 in New York, my 3rd great grandfather.
 Thank you Marlene.
